The Fund: Building organizations & delivering solutions

We all know that our country faces some big problems. At the Fund, we also know from years of experience that when we engage more people in the political process, we can tackle these problems and get real results that make people's lives better. For 25 years we have partnered with groups that are working to protect the environment, safeguard human health, revitalize our democracy, promote equality and fairness and provide direct relief to people in need.

Our canvass operations have broadened the base of support and generated hundreds of thousands of new members for groups like Sierra Club, Human Rights Campaign, U.S. PIRG, Greenpeace and many others. And we've done it one conversation at a time. Why do we think our face-to-face interactions make a great strategy for building a strong organization? Simple–it works. By getting out and talking to people, we not only generate financial support, we identify active supporters–people who will write a letter, sign a petition, volunteer at local events, and continue to support their chosen organizations over time.

The staff of the Fund for Public Interest Research have done a tremendous job of identifying new members and support for the Sierra Club, and their success reflects well on their training. The Fund takes great pride in teaching the craft of outreach.

When HRC needs extra support on a tough campaign, we turn to the Fund. They get our message out to more people and generate the kinds of grassroots, long-term membership support we need to be successful.
